We're thrilled to introduce the talented artists selected for the inaugural Tett Artist Residency: Meenakashi Ghadial, Sheldon Traviss, Sophia Fabiilli, and Baiqing (Audrey) Chen. Each artist will be granted three months in Creativity Studio B during 2024. Join us in celebrating and welcoming these exceptional talents to the Tett!
We are also excited to announce that applications are NOW OPEN for Creativity Studios A and G! The deadline to apply is December 16th, 2023.
As we head into the holiday season, we have an array of exciting sales and events lined up for you this month. The Kingston Holiday Market and KHWS Studio Holiday Sale will fill the building during the first three weekends of December. Make sure you visit the Creativity Studio Artists on the second floor (lakeside) of the Tett to meet the artists and see what they have in store. Theatre Kingston will be presenting John D. Huston's A Christmas Carol in their studio on Dec. 17th!
Our diverse range of workshops continues throughout the month, including the final Kids Creativity Club and Tett Tuesday of 2024. Nick Allinson's Live Edge Charcuterie Board workshop and Lisa Henderson's Quick & Cute Card Class & Scrapbooking Class will also be ongoing. Please welcome the selected artists for the inaugural TETT ARTIST RESIDENCY in 2024: Meenakashi Ghadial, Sheldon Traviss, Sophia Fabiilli and Baiqing (Audrey) Chen. Designed to nurture emerging talents in Katarokwi/Kingston and its surrounding areas, this three-month residency provides each recipient with exclusive studio access at a time, fostering an environment conducive to creative incubation within our vibrant community arts centre. These artists embody diverse disciplines, bringing their unique perspectives to our thriving arts community. We can’t wait to see the creativity they will unfold in 2024!

Make a Live Edge Charcuterie Board Nick Allinson December 5, 13 and more in January, 6PM–8PM Activity Room
This workshop will walk you through the steps to create your own unique live edge charcuterie board (also known as a cheese board). All the materials are included in the price, all you need to bring is a little elbow grease. Dress to do some woodworking and be prepared to have fun! Nick will go through all the steps of choosing a suitable piece of wood, shaping and cutting the board to add a handle, removing or leaving the bark attached, sanding, oiling, and finishing the board for food-safe use. Save a little on the ticket price by bringing a friend or two!

Whether you are a complete beginner or an emerging watercolourist, this guided workshop provides a social and supportive place to learn about watercolours in the spirit of the holiday season. Holiday Gnomes provides the perfect opportunity to pick up a brush for the first time, grow your artistic horizons, or just try something new in a positive environment. All materials are provided, although participants are welcome to bring their own. The workshop will be hosted by book illustrator and art instructor, Alex Lowe.

This workshop is designed to be a fun and easy project! Michelle will prepare the image of your pet before arrival, and you will use tracers to enlarge the image onto the canvas, enabling attendees to paint-in the image with ease and the best chance at a wall-worthy piece of art. Beginners welcome!

Michelle will give an introduction to the materials, art history, colour theory and composition. She will demonstrate her technique using acrylic paint and provide one on one guidance while you create your own forest scene. Reference photos for all seasons will be provided. New to painting? This is a safe and encouraging setting to learn something new. Seasoned artist? She'll gently push you a little to try something outside of your regular practice. The Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning (TCCL) is currently welcoming proposals from emerging professional artists interested in renting one of our Creativity Studios—Studio A and Studio G (Suite 214, 2nd Floor, lakeside end of the hallway). These bright creative spaces are located in a historic building on the shores of Lake Ontario.

Board of Directors Applications accepted on a rolling basis
The TCCL Board is composed of nine dedicated community-based members with a range of skills and experience. These volunteers provide strategic leadership in: fiscal and legal oversight, community engagement and artistic impact, fundraising, human resources and policy development. Members of the Board are passionate supporters of the arts who are dedicated to advancing the Mission of the TCCL to make space for arts exploration, artistic development and creative incubation in Kingston through bringing together spaces, people, ideas and tools that support creativity and learning experiences.
