The proposed Federal Budget was released this week, and we would once again like to thank everyone who participated in the Canadian Arts Coalition's record breaking Campaign for Culture to voice support for continued investment in Canadian arts and culture. Your voices were heard, and some budget highlights include:
- No cuts to the Canada Council for the Arts, and a $6 Million investment over three years
- $46.5 Million for the Canada Arts Presentation Fund over three years
- $21 Million for the Building Communities through Arts & Heritage Program over three years
- $450 Million to Canada's cultural institutions
While there is still work to be done, it is encouraging to see this increased support and recognition of the value arts and culture has within the Canadian landscape. For those interested in learning more, PACT's November Town Hall held online on Thursday, November 13 at 1pm EST will include updates and a Q&A on the proposed budget (event available for free to members and non-members alike).
For those interested in learning more about arts and culture's economic impact, the Artworks report from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce has been published. (Spoiler: arts and culture supports more jobs and GDP than some of Canada's largest sectors, with a $131 Billion contribution to Canada's economy.) |

Fall theatre is upon us and the blog is surely covering this season's productions!
As we've continued to publish both reviews and features, we've hit a significant milestone: 100 articles published on the KTA Blog in 2025! Our team has now surpassed that number and we look forward to more articles coming out in the winter season and new year. We'd like to acknowledge the wonderful work of our writers and editors who helped us hit this publication record!
Speaking of writers, we recently welcomed Michaela Tassone to our team. Joining us in late summer, she's been a wonderful addition to the blog. Be sure to read more about her here. |

"What I love about theatre is how you can walk in as strangers and leave feeling like you’ve shared something without ever speaking. In a world that can feel so divided, it’s special to have a space where everyone experiences the same emotions and joy side by side. So my biggest hope is that people walk away feeling a stronger sense of community, a little lighter, and reminded of how powerful it is to come together through art."
The DAN School Major opens next week and Mariam recently had the chance to chat with the show's assistant director, Julia Gehring. Give their conversation a read by clicking the link below! |
