Queen’s Places Fifth in Maclean’s 2027 University Rankings / Queen’s University ranked fifth among Canada’s large universities in the 2027 Maclean’s rankings, placing alongside McGill, Toronto, UBC, and Waterloo. The university also ranked second among large institutions for student retention and graduation rates. Queen’s Gazette.

Queen's Doctoral Internship in University Administration (QDIUA) - Application Now Open! / The QDIUA provides a unique opportunity for PhD students to learn more about the university’s administrative environment through a paid internship with an administrative unit at Queen’s in the winter term. See the QDIUA website for more information. Positions are available at units across the university, including the Faculty of Arts and Science, Health Sciences, Division of Student Affairs, Human Resources, Centre for Teaching and Learning and more! Students may apply to any position regardless of their home department/faculty.

Indigenous Research Collaboration Day / Join faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and community members for the 10th annual Indigenous Research Collaboration Day (IRCD) on Wednesday, November 11, 2026 from 11:30 am — 4:30 pm (light lunch at 11:30). 

The event is intended to foster a research training environment that is founded on ethical and responsible conduct of research involving Indigenous peoples and communities. The event includes a keynote address from Dr. Kim Anderson (University of Guelph), a panel discussion, a student poster session, and breakout discussions to build towards improved practices, sharing, and learning.

Research Unlocked: Getting Ready for the Tri-Agency Data Deposit Requirement / Join Alyssa Conlon, Research Data Management Librarian, for a practical session on preparing research data for the new Tri-Agency deposit requirement. Learn strategies for organizing, documenting, and sharing research data to support preservation and compliance.

The workshop will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm online or in person at Stauffer Library, Room 014. Coffee will be available for in-person attendees. This session is part of the library’s Research Unlocked Workshop Series. Register here.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

BioHubNet Programs for STEM Graduate Students and Researchers / BioHubNet offers fully funded industry-focused training, paid internships, and short-term academic placements for eligible STEM graduate students, postdocs, and research professionals.

  • $5,000 in training credits, mentorship, and workshops
  • Paid internships ($45,000–$60,000/year) with up to $10,000 mobility awards
  • One-month knowledge exchange placements with mobility awards
  • VentureConnect grants up to $5,000 for travel, pitch competitions, and entrepreneurship training

FUNDING
 

Ontario Women’s Health Scholars Awards / The Ontario Women’s Health Scholars Awards support Canadian citizens and permanent residents conducting women’s health research at Ontario universities. Awards are available at the master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels, with funding up to $50,000 plus research allowances.

Applications for new awards must be submitted through your university by December 1, 2026. Learn more about eligibility, funding, and application details on the Council of Ontario Universities website.

Autism Scholars Awards / The Autism Scholars Awards support Canadian citizens and permanent residents conducting autism research at Ontario universities. Awards are available for full-time master’s students ($18,000) and doctoral students ($20,000) studying autism diagnosis, treatment, and related behavioural sciences.

Applications must be submitted through your university by December 1, 2026. Learn more about eligibility, funding, and application details on the Council of Ontario Universities website.
