CFRC is stoked to welcome local artist Malobi Elueme to our studios next Monday & Tuesday June 15-16th 2026 for her Airwave YGK Musicians Residency! Stay tuned for a great conversation with Genny followed by Malobi's performance of new work she will be creating in our studios starting 5 PM on June 16th!!
Malobi is a member of the travelling act Sam the Band @sam.theband! Sam will be performing solo, but Sam the Band is made up of three sisters who have been singing together their whole lives!
They've taken their act from family reunions to university campus stages, open mics, local arts festivals, and since 2025, the Kingston music scene. Most of their music has been built the DIY way using GarageBand on their laptops, voice notes, YouTube tutorials, and sheer willpower!
Their sound is fluid and rooted in the sounds they collectively grew up on in Lagos, Nigeria and then moving to Canada as teenagers. The music is soulful and grounding. They move between R&B, Afrobeats, Neo-Soul, Pop shaped by years of listening to Adele, Florence + the Machine, Wizkid, Michael Bolton, Fela, Shakira, Sean Paul, and Celine Dion in the same playlist.
Join us June 16th for a solo act from Malobi who will be creating music in our studios using a portable Harp, midi keyboard, djembe drum, a loop pedal and a Pioneer DDJ Controller.
You don't want to miss this one!
This project is made possible through the generous support of the Kingston Arts Council and The City of Kingston.
