Tourism Kingston Asks for Community Support for High Speed Rail

January 19, 2026

A Message from Tourism Kingston to area residents:

"Canada is advancing its first high-speed rail network in the Toronto–Québec City corridor. While Kingston was initially included as a proposed stop, it is no longer part of the current plan.

Tourism Kingston is actively working with provincial and federal partners to advocate for Kingston’s reinstatement, or for a stop as close to Kingston as possible. Access to high-speed rail is critical for business travel, tourism growth, event attraction, workforce mobility, and regional competitiveness, strengthening connections to key markets and supporting sustained economic activity.

Public consultation is now underway. The fastest and most effective way to participate is:

  • Fill out the survey
  • Comment on the map
  • Write a letter of support

Please focus on Question 9:
“Do you have any questions or comments to share with us?”

This is the opportunity to clearly outline why Kingston needs a stop, why a southern route with a stop as close to Kingston as possible is essential, and how rail access impacts your organization, visitors, events, workforce, or business operations.

This tool allows you to geographically indicate the opportunities and considerations you wish to bring to attention.

We strongly encourage your participation to help advocate for Kingston.

Thank you.
