Kingston Symphony Concerts and Events

Celebrate Canada and the art of storytelling with your Kingston Symphony on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at the Isabel! All sorts of wonderful music inspired by our great country awaits, including a special presentation of Roch Carrier’s famous short story, The Hockey Sweater, set to music by Abigail Richardson-Schulte.

The program also includes The Gull, the Raccoon, and the Last Maple, also featuring music by Richardson-Schulte. This contemporary fable pits two of Nature’s most successful scavengers, the Gull and the Raccoon, against each other as they engage in a battle of wits over the last maple and the tiny slip of dry land upon which the tree sits. As the swirling waters rise and drenching storms threaten, the three must combine forces, harness their resourcefulness and adaptability - qualities they all share.

Tickets are $20 each for adults and seniors, $15 for students, $10 for children ages 12 and under, and are available to clicking the link below or calling the Grand Theatre Box Office at 613-530-2050.

Our volunteers are busy collecting donations at the Kingston Symphony Warehouse. We were delighted to open our season last weekend with extraordinary pianist Angela Cheng who performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20. The program also included Symphony No. 3 by Joachim Raff, a Swiss-German composer from the Romantic period. The concert opened with a rousing performance of O Canada and the world premiere of With Thanks by John Burge.

We are grateful to John Burge for composing this new work, which we dedicate to our donors and volunteers. Their support is invaluable to the Kingston Symphony Association. We could not do what we do without their dedication.

You will also find many businesses and organizations who support the Kingston Symphony by advertising in our program. We encourage you to support them.

Whether a restless temperament, a protest against authority, or the impulse to blaze a new compositional path, composers have created some of the world’s finest works from an innate spirit of rebellion. From Haydn’s Farewell Symphony, the ultimate protest piece, to Beethoven’s brilliant Symphony No. 7, standing in the face of convention, this concert calls upon the rebel in us all. We are pleased to welcome Frédéric-Alexandre Michaud to conduct this performance on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at the Isabel.

Please note, this concert is currently sold-out. Any returned tickets will be made available for purchase online or at the Grand Theatre Box Office.
