[KINGSTON, ON] - Providence Care is hosting its first Hospice Golf Tournament,
Teeing Off Fore Hospice, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Rivendell Golf Club. The community fundraiser will support Providence Care Hospice programs and services, including the new AB Smith Homestead House, and help ensure compassionate, high-
quality end-of-life care is available to patients and families.
“Hospice funding works differently than hospital funding and only covers about 50 per cent of what’s needed to operate the house and our community programs,” says Krista Wells Pearce, executive director of hospice services at Providence Care.
“Community support helps bridge that gap and ensures people across Kingston and the surrounding area have access to compassionate, around-the-clock end-of-life care.”
Providence Care Hospice, AB Smith Homestead House, represents a more than 10-year vision brought to life by the community, for the community. In its first year, the hospice team served 176 patients and their families, with that reach expected to grow as awareness increases.
“Community support helps expand access to hospice care, providing more choice at the end of life and supporting patients and families across a range of needs, including in-home care and the hospice residence,” adds Wells Pearce.
The tournament will feature an 18-hole scramble-format round with cart, plus breakfast and a BBQ lunch, prizes, and opportunities to support hospice care through sponsorship and donations.
