Stand Up for Mental Health brings comedy and advocacy to Kingston this weekend

September 24, 2026

By Christena Lawrie, CFRC's Broadcast Journalist and Local Journalism Initiative Reporter.

A comedy show is returning to Kingston this weekend building awareness, increasing understanding, and challenging stigma surrounding mental health.

Stand Up for Mental Health teaches stand-up comedy to people with mental health challenges. The award-winning program was founded by counsellor and stand-up comic David Granirer in 2004 in Vancouver, and since then it has been building confidence and fighting stigma across the globe.

Stand Up for Mental Health will be performing at a Bell Let’s Talk sponsored joint fundraiser and awareness raiser with Addiction & Mental Health Services KFLA on Sunday, Sep. 27 at 7 P.M. at Daft Brewing.

Listen to the full story here, where Granirer sits down with CFRC to share more about what Kingston can expect this weekend.
