The City of Kingston has released the results of their most recent Kingston Moves Household Travel Survey, which explores how people travel on weekdays in Kingston. The study polled over 3,500 households across the city in late 2024 online or by phone, and expanded survey results to represent permanent residents and seasonal students spanning urban and rural Kingston.
The survey highlights some shifting patterns since the last report which was conducted in 2019, including an increased number of walking commuters (23%, up from 18%), increased number of people working from home (13%, up from 8, 1 in 4 FT workers work at least 1 day at home), and reduced number of daily trips (5.66 per day, down 12%). CFRC sat down with Matt Kussin, Manager of Transportation Policy and Programs to discuss some of the key findings and how these results will help inform the City’s Integrated Mobility Plan and future transportation planning work.
