Kingston’s business sector is taking proactive steps to navigate the challenges posed by the ongoing trade war between Canada and the U.S, according to one of Kingston’s business leaders.

“I think the energy right now is resilience,” Karen Cross, CEO of the Kingston Chamber of Commerce stated in an interview with CFRC.

While the future is uncertain, Cross says that Kingston local businesses have been ahead of the curve and creative as the situation has evolved, with some businesses managing to thrive through early strategic sourcing and community engagement.

To provide some extra support to business owners, the Chamber has launched a “shop local” initiative and is hosting networking events to foster connections in the business community. Additionally, the Chamber has teamed up with Tourism Kingston, Kingston Economic Development, Kingston Accommodation Partners, and the Downtown Kingston BIA to strategize and support the local economy.
