Kick Off Summer with the First Princess St. Promenade of the Season – This Saturday, June 21!

June 17, 2025

For some, summer starts with the solstice. For others, it truly begins when Princess Street opens to pedestrians for the first Promenade of the season—and that day is almost here.
The beloved Princess St. Promenade, a vibrant one-day festival celebrating active living and community spirit, returns this Saturday, June 21, for its first event of 2025. Join thousands of residents and visitors for one of Kingston’s most anticipated summer traditions.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Princess Street will be closed to traffic from Barrie Street to Ontario Street, transforming into a pedestrian paradise. Local retailers, restaurants, salons, spas, and more will take to the streets with exclusive deals, giveaways, free samples, and interactive activities for all ages.
“Princess St. Promenade has become more than just an event—it’s a marker of the season for many in our community,” says Sandi Griffiths, Events Manager at the Downtown Kingston Business Improvement Area, the organization that produces the Promenade. “By creating a car-free, people-focused space, we’re able to highlight the best of our downtown and invite everyone to rediscover it in a new way.”
Can’t make it this weekend? Don’t worry—two more Promenade dates are on the horizon: Saturday, August 2 and Saturday, September 13. Mark your calendars and be ready to hit the streets again later this summer.
And just a reminder that with Princess Street closed from Barrie Street to Ontario Street, vehicles looking to cross Princess can only do so via Barrie or Bagot. All other cross streets will be closed.
