City acquires Lemoine Point Farm property after years of uncertainty

After a highly anticipated court ruling, the City of Kingston has officially moved forward with the purchase of Lemoine Point Farm.

The City acquired the roughly 80-acre waterfront property for $12 million through a court-approved settlement following years of confidential negotiations. The property has been in legal limbo since the death of longtime owner Mary Fraser in 2022.

Local advocates with the Save Lemoine Point Farm group, who have pushed for public ownership of the land for years, welcomed the decision and say they will continue working to ensure the farm’s long-term protection.

According to the City, the land will remain protected and open to the public while long-term plans are developed with community input. A detailed update is expected in a report to Council on March 24, 2026.
