An Indigenous arts organization is looking ahead following Council’s approval of the $12M purchase of Lemoine Point Farm.
LodgePole Arts Alliance (LPAA), a national non-profit supporting Indigenous artists, has been advocating for both the protection of the land and its transformation into a publicly accessible, Indigenous-led cultural space.
LPAA has been in discussions with the City for the past two years, and remains optimistic about future collaboration. Should LPAA acquire the property, plans include studios, a theatre space, and land-based programming.
Public engagement begins this week, with a talking circle at City Hall inviting residents to help guide the project’s future on Wednesday, Apr. 8.
