Kingston, Ontario – Local walking club, King’s Town Trekkers Volkssport Club, will be hosting a walking festival in downtown Kingston from May 24 to May 26.

They will welcome walkers from six provinces and 26 states, as well as England, Brazil, and Norway for a total of 387 participants. These walkers have just completed the Tulip Festival walks in Ottawa, a three-day event held over the Victoria Day long weekend. There will be two groups of walkers leaving from Ottawa via motor coach, snaking their way to Kingston with walks in Manotick, Cornwall, Perth, Smith Falls, Gananoque, and Brockville.

In Kingston, they will have the opportunity to do a 5 or 10-km walk both Friday and Saturday in the morning and afternoon, and Sunday morning for a total of five walks. Friday evening, the group will attend a meet and greet featuring Kingston Town Crier, Chris Whyman. Saturday evening, the local club will host a banquet and club awards ceremony.

On Sunday evening attendees will enjoy a river cruise and dinner in Rockport. The next morning, two groups of walkers will head to Niagara on the Lake and Niagara Falls for two nights, then travel to Stratford, finishing in Toronto for two more nights. All these destinations will offer 5 and 10-km walks for the group.

“Volkssport walks are offered in approximately 52 countries around the world. It is an exciting experience. John and I have walked in all the Canadian provinces, all 50 USA states, Iceland, Switzerland, France, Italy, and Australia. It’s a different way to see the world and to meet friends,” says Sue Osborn, King’s Town Trekkers Co-founder and event organizer.
