August 27, 2025
Kingston, ON – [Wednesday, August 27, 2025] – On Saturday, September 13th, Princess Street will once again transform into a pedestrian-only playground for the final Princess Street Promenade of the year. From 10am to 5pm, downtown businesses and community groups will line the street with unbeatable deals, delicious eats, and family-friendly activities for all to enjoy.
But the fun doesn’t end there. As a special celebration to welcome students back to the city, Princess Street between King and Ontario will remain closed following the Promenade for a free evening concert from 6pm to 9pm. A full stage will be set up to showcase three exciting local acts:
-
Lukas Oak – At just 14, Lukas turned heads at this summer’s Kingston Buskers Rendezvous, where judges handpicked him to open the festival’s finale. His soulful talent is not to be missed.
-
Kyra – A captivating local singer-songwriter whose heartfelt melodies and dynamic vocal range bring passion and authenticity to every performance.
-
Kasador – Kingston’s own high-energy indie rock band, closing out the night with their signature rousing sound that’s sure to get the crowd moving.
To add to the festive atmosphere, Princess Street will be licensed for the concert, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available.
“Promenade is one of the most loved events we produce,” says Sandi Griffiths, Events Manager with the Downtown Kingston Business Improvement Area (BIA). “It’s a celebration of community and showcases all the amazing things our downtown has to offer. Closing the season with a free concert is a perfect way to bring students and the community together.”
