Local Arts Residency returns with four artists-in-residence at the Kingston Grand Theatre
June 20, 2023
The Local Arts Residency Program at the Kingston Grand Theatre is thrilled to announce the 2023 artists-in-residence. The Residency first launched in 2021 in response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and is now an annual program delivered by Arts & Culture Services, providing space and support to Kingston artists to explore ideas, create and nurture new directions in their work.
The 2023 artists-in-residence are:
- Megan Hamilton, July 4-7 (Regina Rosen Auditorium)
- Benedictus Mattson, Devanshi Mishra and Movement Market Collective, July 4-7 (Baby Grand)
- David Parker and Jane Kirby, July 25-28 (Regina Rosen Auditorium)
- Nice On, July 25-28 (Baby Grand)
“We’re excited to welcome our third roster of artists-in-residence to the Kingston Grand Theatre,” says Danika Lochhead, Manager, Arts & Sector Development. “Access to space, time, and resources continue to be a need for artists and we’re committed to providing the Kingston Grand Theatre as a community hub that supports these vital needs now and into the future.”
Applications were submitted through an open call for proposals. The four artists-in-residence were selected by a jury comprised of one past Local Arts Residency artist, Gary Rasberry, and two artists presented through the City’s Grand OnStage program including Denise Fujiwara, and Aislinn Rose.
The residencies will be documented through videography and shared to provide a behind-the-scenes look at the 2023 artists-in-residence.
