Kingston Symphony kicks off 72nd season with epic romance in annual composer festival
September 16, 2025
A new concert season is a time to let your excitement show, and for the 2025-2026 season opener, the Kingston Symphony is gleefully anticipating Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts. Our composer festivals have historically always been one of the highlights of our seasons, and this time around we get to start with one: Bruckner Festival.
Enter a world of sweeping beauty and mystical grandeur as the Kingston Symphony presents Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4. Known for its majestic horn calls, soaring melodies, and evocative landscapes, this symphony conjures visions of enchanted forests and heroic quests. Under the baton of our esteemed maestro, Evan Mitchell, the orchestra will bring to life Bruckner’s unique blend of spiritual depth and symphonic power, offering our audience a musical journey that bridges the sacred and the sublime.
Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony stands as a cornerstone of the Romantic repertoire. It is a work of vast scope and brilliance. From its iconic opening fanfare to its triumphant finale, the symphony develops with a sense of wonder and reverence that has captivated listeners for generations.
"In my opinion, there’s almost no better way to open a season than with a composer festival, and in this instance we take on Bruckner and his wonderful Fourth Symphony - a symphony that doesn’t just begin, it awakens. Throughout, you feel the pulse of something ancient and majestic stirring. It’s a journey through sound that’s both epic and intimate, and I can’t wait to share that experience with our audience! The 2025-2026 season is looking very promising indeed." - Kingston Symphony Music Director Evan Mitchell
