Ambulances are getting back on the road faster, as recent changes at Kingston Health Sciences Centre’s Emergency Department have cut ambulance offload times significantly.
Ambulance offload times this spring were down by 44 per cent when compared with the same time period last year, all while the hospital is operating at close to 100 per cent capacity.
The improvement is the result of just over two years of work with Frontenac Paramedics to redesign how patients arriving by ambulance are brought into the emergency department.
Listen to the full story here, where Jason Hann, Executive Vice-President of Patient Care at KHSC, sits down with CFRC to share more about this accomplishment and the teamwork that made it possible.
