The Kingston Canadian Film Festival (KCFF) is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary with a record number of local films and documentaries, showcasing five made-in-Kingston features and eight short films from its Local Shorts program.
According to KCFF’s director Marc Garniss, this has been a gradual progression over the years since he started with the festival in 2013.
“My first festival was 2013, and we didn’t have any local features that year… In those early days for me, it was very rare to even see a local feature,” Garniss explained in an interview with CFRC.
This comes as Kingston’s film sector is potentially on the cusp of some major growth, with a $20M film studio set to be built in the near future.
