Kingston Buskers Rendezvous Concludes with Seb & Fritzzz Winning People's Choice Award
July 8, 2024
The 34th annual Kingston Buskers Rendezvous came to a spectacular close Sunday evening, with the People's Choice Award going to Seb & Fritzzz for the second consecutive year. The duo, known for their captivating combination of whip performance and beatboxing, has consistently delighted audiences with their wit, humour, and jaw-dropping skills.
The festival also saw the successful introduction of new programming, including the Buskers Bootcamp in Confederation Park, where children of all ages could learn various performance skills such as juggling, beatboxing, and hula hooping from the talented performers themselves. Additionally, the Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation's mini planes provided a thrilling experience for kids, while Buskers After Dark created an electrifying atmosphere in Springer Market Square on Saturday night.
United Way's Success by 6 program received a significant boost from this year's festival, with close to $1200 raised by the performers through audience donations. This initiative aims to improve the lives of Kingston's youngest children by fostering community involvement and support.
Over the course of four days, thousands of people flocked to downtown Kingston to enjoy the festival's numerous events, which included an artisan market and a lineup of international performers. Plans are already underway for next year's Kingston Buskers Rendezvous, which will take place from July 10th to 13th, 2025.
"We are overwhelmed by the positive response to this year's Kingston Buskers Rendezvous and the incredible support shown for our performers," said Sandi Griffiths, Events Manager with the Downtown Kingston Business Improvement Area. "We are excited to build on this success for next year's festival, which promises to be even more spectacular."
