KINGSTON BASKETEERS TO WRAP UP HOPE FOR LOCAL WOMEN

October 15, 2024

Sixth annual volunteer project will help women starting over this
holiday season

Kingston – ON

Imagine leaving your home with only a few belongings, to make a fresh
start. This is what many women face when choosing to escape intimate
partner abuse.
That's why Kingston Basketeers helps local women making the transition
from emergency shelters to a new beginning, with a simple act of
kindness.

Since 2019, the Kingston chapter of Basketeers has been working with
community members to provide some of the simple necessities and niceties
of life, bundled in a basket.

They’re asking community members to register to donate a wrapped laundry
basket of new household or personal care items, which will be
distributed to women in need through Kingston Interval House.

Baskets can be dropped off on Saturday, November 23 from 10:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m., at the INVISTA Centre.

“I’m excited to continue this initiative this holiday season with the
help of generous community members. We’re proudly partnering with
Kingston Interval House to distribute baskets of necessities for women
who need a helping hand as they make a new beginning, away from
violence.”
– Claire LaPlante, Chapter Lead, Kingston Basketeers
