Kingston ABC Book To Be Launched This Fall

September 10, 2026

KINGSTON, ON – K is for Kingston, K is for Katarokwi, a children’s ABC board book highlighting the things that make this place special, will be launched this November.

The book, created by editor Jane Kirby and designer Vincent Perez, features a word list brainstormed with the help of the community and the work of 13 local artists: Chayse Davey, Eron One, Holly Gilmour, Jill Glatt, Grace Dixon, Jasper Lyon Wicke, Camille Giasson, Hill Werth, Emily Wu, Abby Nowakowski, Lee Stewart, Phoebe Cohoe, and Bree Rappaport.

The book launch will be held at the Central Branch of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library on Saturday, November 21st at 2:30pm, and will feature musicians Anna Sudac and Christina Foster playing a mix of original music, interactive educational songs, and classic folk tunes inspired by the book. Art featured in the book will also be on display at the Elm Café beginning in December. Both events are co-presented with the Skeleton Park Arts Festival.

“We wanted to celebrate the community with this book – using art-based workshops with kids and families to help brainstorm the word list, and bringing together the work and visions of many local artists,” says creator Jane Kirby. “We’re hoping people of all ages will join us in celebrating this place at the book launch and art show.”

Preorders of the book are now available from greetingsfrom.ca/shop, and the book will be available from several local retailers by December.
