Gananoque to study Stone Street pedestrian crossover

February 25, 2026

By Keith Dempsey, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter

Town of Gananoque council has directed staff to examine the feasibility and cost of installing a pedestrian crossover at the intersection of Stone Street North and North Street.

Council unanimously approved the motion at its Feb. 18 meeting following a request submitted by resident Matthew Heidt in a Feb. 4 email to the municipality.

Staff will now prepare a report evaluating whether a pedestrian crossover can be installed at the location, along with associated costs and any operational considerations. The report will be brought back to council for review at a future meeting.

No timeline for the report was discussed during the meeting.
