On Sunday November 19, the Queens Gaels Women’s Volleyball team hosted the Brock
Badgers on the second leg of a back-to-back. The first matchup between two of the top teams in
OUA, saw Brock get the best of the Gaels in three sets. The Brock, Queens rivalry runs deep as
these two faced off against each other in last year’s finals, so Queens had this one circled on
the calendar from the beginning of the season.

Out for revenge, the Gaels hit the court with high energy feeding off the home court advantage
and momentum. In a tightly contested first set, Brock got the better of the Gales and found
themselves with an early advantage after taking the first set 25-21. However, the Gaels turned
around in the second. A hot start in the second set saw the Gaels jump up to a big 11-point lead
at one point. They never looked back and got back to even with a 25-20 second set win. Brock
brought it back on in the third set as they got the lead and never gave it back up taking this one
25-17. The visiting Badgers found themselves a set away from coming into Kingston and taking
2 wins from the Gaels. However, the Gaels would not go down without a fight as the comeback
was on in do or die set number 4. Strong play from Lauren Mellon, saw the Gaels take the next
two sets in decisive fashion, and get themselves a much-needed victory over their fierce rival.
This win moved the Gaels record to 5-1, as they currently rank in 6th place. You can catch your
Women’s Gales Volleyball team in action next on December 1 as they take on Windsor.

Gaels vs Badgers: W, 3-2 (21-25, 25-20, 17-25, 25-18, 15-11)
