Frontenac Secondary School Hosts 2024 OFSAA Curling Championship in Kingston March 19-23

March 12, 2024

KINGSTON, ON – [March 12, 2024] – In just a week, Frontenac Secondary School will be hosting the prestigious Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) 2024 Curling Championship. The event is scheduled to take place from March 19th to March 23rd, 2024, featuring 18 boys’ teams and 18 girls’ teams from across the province competing for the coveted OFSAA title.

The main host site for the OFSAA 2024 Curling Championship will be Cataraqui Golf and Country Club. Cataraqui's impeccable reputation for hosting sporting events of this calibre makes it an ideal venue to witness these young athletes compete at their best. Cataraqui, also the home of Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association (KASSAA) curling, is an incredible supporter of youth curling in Kingston.

In addition to Cataraqui, Frontenac Secondary School is delighted to collaborate with the other three Greater Kingston Curling Clubs - Royal Kingston Curling Club, Napanee & District Curling Club, and Gananoque Curling Club - in hosting the draws, making this a true community effort. These clubs, known for their outstanding facilities and passion for curling, will ensure that the athletes have an exceptional experience throughout the competition.

The City of Kingston will be well represented at the championship; with the host Frontenac boys’ and girls’ teams and the EOSSAA champion Kingston Secondary boys and girls teams all vying for their respective division titles.

The championship will not only showcase the incredible talent of young curlers, but also foster sportsmanship, camaraderie, and community awareness. The host committee is thrilled to collaborate with Partners in Mission Food Bank and UnitedWeCurl to help develop these future community leaders. All participants and spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable food bank donations, and participants will be treated to a fireside chat with Dr. Richard Norman of UnitedWeCurl at the banquet. The host committee believes in empowering these young athletes to be agents of positive social change when they return home after the championship.

"Frontenac Secondary School is incredibly excited and honoured to host the OFSAA 2024 Curling Championship. This event represents an extraordinary opportunity for students to showcase their talent on a grand stage while developing their social awareness and leadership skills," said Sarah Depew, OFSAA 2024 Convenor and Teacher at Frontenac Secondary School.

The OFSAA Curling 2024 Host Committee is grateful for the outpouring of support they have received from the curling community and local businesses, and is eager to welcome participants and spectators for the Championship.
