Fill a Bus Boot Drive to help kids in need

November 7, 2025

Kingston Community Health Centres, in partnership with Robert Hogan Bus Lines, are calling on the
community to help keep local children warm this winter. The Fill a Bus Boot Drive takes place on Friday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside Giant Tiger at the Riocan Centre (656 Gardiners Road).

Community members are encouraged to donate new winter boots, hats, and mittens (or make cash
donations) to school-age children in need. All items collected will be distributed on through Operation Warm Feet, a long-standing Kingston Community Health Centres initiative that supports low-income families in Kingston.

“Every year we give out over 500 pairs of boots, and there are still families left waiting,” says Steph Wheeler, a Community Development Worker at KCH. “Something as simple as warm boots can make a big difference in a child’s life — keeping their feet dry and allowing them to get to school safely and comfortably.”

Donations can be dropped off directly at the bus during the event: any new winter boots, hats and mitts are welcome – they don’t have to be purchased on-site! Monetary contributions are also welcome at the event and will go toward purchasing additional boots for children in need.
