Practical, 3-hour, on-bike courses offered August the 9 th , 16 th and 23 rd , 2023
Kingston, August 8, 2023 – The summer is the ideal time to learn the foundational skills of safe
cycling that will last a lifetime! Cycle Kingston, the leading organization for safe cycling and
active transportation in Kingston for 20 years is pleased to announce the upcoming Savvy
Cycling Workshops.

Our trained Cycling Ambassadors will be offering three workshops on Wednesdays in August –
the 9 th , 16 th , and 23 rd – running from 12:00 to 3:00pm. Over three hours, cyclists will learn about
vehicular cycling in a short in-class session, then will be led through a series of practical skills
drills in a safe parking lot environment. And finally, students will have a chance to apply what
they’ve learned by cycling through the streets of central Kingston.

“There’s nothing like learning in real time,” says Cycling Ambassador Kaan Sun, “so we get
students in real life on-road situations as soon as we feel they are ready. Students will feel
comfortable riding on most residential and arterial roads in Kingston.”

This program material is designed for youth ages 9-14, but the workshop is open to teens or
adults of any age who would like to learn about the rules of the road for cyclists, traffic skills and
important safety procedures.

“We suggest registering as a family, or a small group of friends,” adds Kaan, “then everyone
learns together and supports each other.”

There will be 3 sessions during the month of August: the 9th, 16th and 23rd. These events will
take place at the Kingston Memorial Centre 303 York Street. The workshop will start at 12 PM
and will end at 3 PM. Participants must register in advance and space is limited. The fee is only
$20 per person. To register, visit for information and a link.
