Council has unanimously approved the purchase of the Lemoine Point Farm property for $12M, marking the end of a years-long process following the death of owner Mary Fraser in 2022.

Fraser’s will granted the City the option to purchase the land with the condition it remain primarily zoned for rural use. A final settlement was reached in court this past February. The sale is expected to close in mid-April.

“There’s a lot of joy in the city…,” said Councillor Gary Oosterhof. “It’s a reason to celebrate, really.”

While no immediate changes are planned, the City says public consultation will be taking place in the near future, with engagement opportunities to be shared on the City’s website.
