Clothing Drive in Support of Almost Home

April 23, 2025

Kingston Waterfront Rotary Club invites the community to donate gently used adult clothing items and accessories in support of Almost Home. On Saturday, between April 26, 9am-12pm, items will be collected to benefit YGK Thrift, a used clothing store with 100% of the proceeds going to support the non-profit, registered charitable organization Almost Home.

Volunteers from Kingston Waterfront Rotary Club will accept donations of gently used adult clothing and accessories at the JSM Centre parking lot (across from the Kingston Centre) at 1011 Princess St. on Sat. April 26 from 9am-12pm. Donations can also be dropped off directly at YGK Thrift at 165 Princess Street during their business hours.

"The Kingston Waterfront Rotary Club has a long history of financial and ‘sweat equity’ support for Almost Home," says Anne Marie Jennings, event organizer and former Kingston Waterfront Rotary Club member. "We do an annual fall leaf cleanup, and for the past several years we have held clothing drives to help restock their YGK Thrift inventory. Almost Home provides crucial support for families with kids in Kingston hospitals, and we’re happy to help them.”

Anyone with items to donate who can’t drop-off on Saturday the 26th or directly to YGK Thrift is encouraged to contact the Kingston Waterfront Rotary Club through their Facebook page or by email info@kwrotaryclub.org to make other arrangements.

About Almost Home:

Almost Home is a charitable organization, operating in Kingston, that provides temporary accommodation to families whose children are receiving medical treatment in Kingston-area hospitals.

Many families must travel a distance to receive treatment at Kingston-area hospitals for their ill or injured child. When a child is receiving treatment, the healing process can only be improved when a child is surrounded by the love and support of their family. Almost Home provides a comfortable and caring environment – a temporary home-away-from-home – for families to get a much needed break from hospital surroundings. Whether they are looking to rejuvenate or to relax, whether it is for weeks, days or an hour, Almost Home is a source of relief that families with sick children have come to rely on.
