Kingston residents could see an addition to municipal snow clearing services next winter.

At Tuesday’s Council meeting, Councillor Ryan Boehme brought forward a motion for the City to look into implementing driveway windrow clearing services.

Windrows created through municipal road plowing operations are not only a nuisance, but also present accessibility challenges for residents, particularly seniors and persons with disabilities.

Councillors around the horseshoe were supportive, with many mentioning that they have been hearing from constituents on this issue for a long time.

City staff will bring a report examining driveway windrow clearing service models and their applicability to Kingston by the end of Q3 2026.
