Simon Kempston
|
Simon Kempston is “one of Scotland’s very best songwriters” (The Sunday Herald), a composer and leading fingerstyle guitarist based in Edinburgh. Drawing from the disparate genres of classical, celtic, and blues (amongst others), his subtle guitar work provides the perfect accompaniment for his rich, powerful, and compelling tenor vocals. With more than a decade of international touring behind him, nine albums as a singer-songwriter, and four instrumental acoustic guitar albums, we're honoured to be hosting this incredibly talented performer!

A woman wanders the streets of New York City, takes buses and trains, sits in bars and coffee shops, experiencing the city’s diverse neighbourhoods, while thinking about her life, her loneliness, unrequited love. She finds moments of communion with various people she meets along the way and with the city itself.
We're over the moon to be presenting this event, featuring legendary filmmaker Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and brilliant poet Eva H.D.!

Saturday Sept 16 // 9:30pm Saturday Night Salon with Chris Brown & Kate Fenner
|
Chris and Kate began playing music together when they were 15 and 16. They still do.
After leaving the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir and their native Toronto for Brooklyn and New Jersey in the 1990s and 2000s, they entered a period of intense creative growth, touring extensively and releasing several vital independent albums.
Kate Fenner and Chris Brown (co-owner of the Hotel) also continue to release their own albums under their own names, while still guesting on each other’s. Don’t miss this special intimate show in the Piano Room after the film screening!
