DAN School's Fall Major "The Last Night at the Cabaret Solitaire"

November 9th -19th 2023: Queen’s University’s DAN School of Drama and Music is proud to present the world premiere of an original musical comedy revue titled The Last Night at the Cabaret Solitaire as our 2023 Fall Major. The show is packed with killer vocals,
hilariously dumb jokes, wild dance numbers, and even a drag queen or two. Arrangements of hit songs - among them “Holding out for a Hero,” Adele’s “Someone Like You,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” and tunes from favorite musicals like Cabaret and Chicago - complement the vibrant costumes and set and are energetically performed by a stellar and versatile cast comprised entirely of Queen’s students.

The show takes place at The Cabaret Solitaire, a fictitious nightclub/cabaret that celebrates glam and camp. Described by Director Grahame Renyk as a “place that exists in the spaces between places,” the show offers a home to anyone who has ever felt like they do not fit in. Sharing one final night together, the staff, performers and patrons of The Cabaret Solitaire sing, dance, laugh
and revel in each other’s company.

The Last Night at the Cabaret Solitaire features student work on stage and behind the scenes, including set, costume, sound and lighting design, choreography, and music direction. Not only does it offer the local community an entertaining night at the theatre, but the show also provides experiential learning opportunities to over 100 students from both the DAN School and the larger
Queen’s community. The Cabaret Solitaire is a place where audiences can find laughter and song, and where students can showcase their talents as they forward their development as theatre artists and practitioners.

Evening Performances: November 10th-11th and November 14th-17th at 7:30pm
Matinee Performances: November 12th and November 18th-19th at 2:00pm
Relaxed Performance: November 11th at 2:00pm
