Monday, August 9 at 5pm we pre-empt our regular national alternative radio news program, Groundwire, for a special edition of Alternative Frequency, offering breaking news on the Prison Farm issue and sound from the blockade protest. We’ll talk about the latest developments, those who were arrested today, and where the movement to save the prison farms will go from here. Tuesday, August 10 from 5pm to midnight, CFRC brings you a special broadcast in recognition of Prisoners Justice Day, an annual event in remembrance of all those who have died behind bars. The program will feature more news on the local prison farms issue, features on aboriginal, women’s and queer issues within the penal system, a memorial segment and music requests made by people in Kingston-area facilities.
