On Thursday August 26 from 1-2:30 pm, Kingston Staged brings you the sounds of the 2011 Wolfe Island Music Festival, featuring interviews and performances from Jennifer Castle, Sleuth Bears, Bader Lane Quartet, Evening Hymns, and more. If you missed this year’s festival, join roving reporters Cyndy Gibson, Janelle Zhao and Laura Palma as they chat with the festival’s participants.

Unit Structures: Final Episode

On Tuesday August 23 from 10- 11:30am, Unit Structures, with host Jessie Stephenson, airs its final episode. The show’s finale is devoted to a documentary exploring the Kingston music scene, featuring interviews with, and performances from, Mark Streeter, Neven Lochhead, James Goddard, Darren Springer, Scott Hansen and Kristiana Clemens. During its run, Unit Structures has brought you the finest in particularly adventurous strains of jazz, occasionally branching out into other genres or musical movements, and always accompanied with exhaustive and insightful commentary on the social and cultural context in which that music was made. It will be deeply missed!

Sam Shalabi and Old Haunt on Kingston Staged

On Thursday Aug 18, tune in to Kingston Staged to hear Montreal’s Sam Shalabi perform his “Oud Concerto” at the Modern Fuel Art Gallery from Thursday July 28. You’ll also hear Kingston’s own Old Haunt open the show with an ethereal brand of electronic folk, and hear a portion of a performance by local experimental duo Mantles at The Artel from Thursday June 30.

Sweet Nothing Returns to CFRC Schedule

Beginning on Saturday August 13, Sweet Nothing with host Annie Dunsford returns to CFRC’s airwaves. Tune in every Saturday from 11 pm to midnight for some sultry ambient make-out music. And of course, stay tuned after her program for sound art with Radia at midnight.
