CFRC & Kingston’s Cultural Plan
This week, the city released the final draft of the Community Cultural Policy Plan a team of consultants has been working on with local stakeholders over the past year. The plan will shape the cultural development of the Kingston community over the next ten years. CFRC received special mention on page 60 of the plan, as the city’s only campus-community radio station and a resource for local artists and arts groups seeking exposure. In fact, our station was the only radio outlet highlighted in the Plan! Nuclear Waste to pass through Kingston
Mark Mattson, President of Lake Ontario Waterkeeper
On Alternative Frequency, Melissa Bryant interviews Mark Mattson, the president of the Lake Ontario Waterkeeper Project about the shipment of radioactive material going through lake Ontario. This material is travelling all the way to Sweden and will be passing right through Kingston. Mattson will weigh in on the great gamble with the great lakes. Alternative Frequency will also feature an interview with Dr. Vince Sacco of the Queen’s sociology department. Dr. Sacco takes us through collective behavior and how crowds act. Final Voyage of The Groove Cruise
Join Tyler and Diann on Monday July 5th as the the Groove Cruise makes its final voyage. The Goove Cruise has been sailing from the basement of Carruthers Hall – in different time slots – for more than 4 years, broadcasting almost 150 shows, playing a great mix of dance music, new and old. Drum and bass was an early staple of the show while remixes and mashups have taken centre stage over the past two years. There were even a few video remixes featured on the “youtube (doo-do doot!)” segment!
