CFRC & Kingston’s Cultural Plan

July 29, 2010 · Posted in News ·

This week, the city released the final draft of the Community Cultural Policy Plan a team of consultants has been working on with local stakeholders over the past year. The plan will shape the cultural development of the Kingston community over the next ten years. CFRC received special mention on page 60 of the plan, as the city’s only campus-community radio station and a resource for local artists and arts groups seeking exposure. In fact, our station was the only radio outlet highlighted in the Plan! Looks like our local government may be stepping up to take notice and recognize our contributions to this fair city in the coming years. Final Voyage of The Groove Cruise

July 2, 2010 · Posted in Content ·

Join Tyler and Diann on Monday July 5th as the the Groove Cruise makes its final voyage. The Goove Cruise has been sailing from the basement of Carruthers Hall – in different time slots – for more than 4 years, broadcasting almost 150 shows, playing a great mix of dance music, new and old. Drum and bass was an early staple of the show while remixes and mashups have taken centre stage over the past two years. There were even a few video remixes featured on the “youtube (doo-do doot!)” segment!

We hope that you have enjoyed your Monday musical vacations - we certainly have! If you feel that you are in need of a party in the next three months, be sure to check out the archives. And if you long for a musical vacation after that, be sure to break out your favourite tunes, take off your shoes, wiggle your toes into the warm sand, top up your umbrella drink and board your own Groove Cruise!
